The ICSM was formed in 2006 as a not for profit association that awards service management professional credentials through establishing high standards of professional and ethical conduct, continuing professional development and commitment to the community by its members.
Organizing members of the ICSM include a “who’s who” of ITIL and ITSM thought leaders including ITIL authors and itSMF (IT Service Management Forum) Founders and officers. ICSM membership is open to all interested and qualified individuals.
A first in North America for the IT Service Management community, the ICSM supports valued industry partners in the ITSM industry, including the itSMF and a growing number of universities, through credentialing and career development of Service Management Professionals.
The ICSM launch has been described as “arriving at the best possible time in the North American IT community. This is exactly what is needed to preserve, nurture and mature IT Service Manager professionalism during the rapid, expansive growth in the ITSM industry.” Said Allan Montezon, Director of Information Systems at Northwestern Mutual Insurance and founding Secretary of the ICSM.
The ICSM will begin accepting applications for members at all levels of credentialing on November 13th. Details on the requirements and the application form are available on the ICSM web site www.icsmusa.org
The ICSM was established earlier this year as the first international affiliate of the long standing UK Institute of Service Management. Other countries have begun to organize similar institutes in response to recognition on a global scale that these organizations bring tremendous value to ITSM consumers and professionals alike. “The ISM and ICSM represent the recognition and value of formalizing the level of ethics and quality this profession offers” Says Taylor.
The ICSM will serve the North American Service Management professional community and the opportunity for its members to enjoy the benefits of a growing international body of certified professionals in the industry.
